La r\u00e9surrection de Lazare repr\u00e9sente un point de non-retour pour J\u00e9sus. De l\u00e0 commence Son chemin inexorable vers le destin que Dieu a voulu pour Lui.<\/em><\/h4>\n

Nous avons parl\u00e9 de Marthe, Marie et Lazare de B\u00e9thanie<\/strong><\/a> dans un article d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019amiti\u00e9. En effet, pour J\u00e9sus, avoir des amis \u00e9tait tout aussi important que pour n\u2019importe quelle autre personne. Et pourtant le r\u00e9cit de la r\u00e9surrection de Lazare<\/strong> racont\u00e9 dans Jean 11, 1-45 est bien plus qu\u2019une simple histoire d\u2019amiti\u00e9. Au contraire, le th\u00e8me de l\u2019amiti\u00e9 passe en deuxi\u00e8me plan, du moment que Lazare ne parle pas et toute la sc\u00e8ne est occup\u00e9e par J\u00e9sus qui, appel\u00e9 par les deux s\u0153urs de l\u2019ami pour le sauver du mal qui l\u2019a touch\u00e9 et le trouvant d\u00e9j\u00e0 mort depuis quatre jours, invoque la puissance de Dieu pour le ramener \u00e0 la vie. Et pourtant l\u2019amour que J\u00e9sus portait pour Lazare ne pose aucun doute<\/strong> : le Christ \u00e9clate en sanglots devant le s\u00e9pulcre de Lazare, il est perturb\u00e9 et \u00e9mu par la disparation de Marie, sa s\u0153ur, qui Le supplie de sauver son fr\u00e8re, tandis que Marthe, comme toujours, reste enferm\u00e9e \u00e0 la maison, gardienne de la famille et de l\u2019abri offert par cette derni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Le choix de Jean de raconter cet \u00e9pisode, qui apparait uniquement dans l\u2019\u00c9vangile qui porte son nom et n\u2019est pas cit\u00e9 dans les autres \u00c9vangiles, a une signification plus profonde, symbolique et proph\u00e9tique<\/strong>. C\u2019est justement au moment o\u00f9 J\u00e9sus se rend \u00e0 B\u00e9thanie et ressuscite Lazare que Son destin s\u2019accomplit<\/strong>. En montrant Son pouvoir devant les nombreux Juifs venus pour pleurer la mort de l\u2019homme, J\u00e9sus r\u00e9v\u00e8le sa personne, sans masques, sans limitations. \u00c0 partir de cet instant-l\u00e0, il deviendra une cible pour Ses ennemis. Il choisit consciemment de se rendre en Jud\u00e9e, bien qu\u2019il sache qu\u2019on l\u2019y d\u00e9teste. Les disciples tentent en effet de l\u2019en dissuader : \u00ab\u00a0Rabbi, les Juifs tout r\u00e9cemment cherchaient \u00e0 te lapider, et tu retournes en Jud\u00e9e\u00a0!<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (Jean 11,8). Mais Il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait Son choix<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Il l\u2019admet Lui-m\u00eame peu apr\u00e8s : \u00ab\u00a0Et J\u00e9sus leva les yeux en haut, et dit\u00a0: P\u00e8re, je te rends gr\u00e2ce de ce que tu m\u2019as exauc\u00e9. Pour moi, je savais que tu m\u2019exauces toujours\u00a0; mais j\u2019ai parl\u00e9 \u00e0 cause de la foule qui m\u2019entoure, afin qu\u2019ils croient que c\u2019est toi qui m\u2019as envoy\u00e9\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb (Jean 11, 41-42).<\/p>\n

Dans cette optique, la R\u00e9surrection de Lazare devient comme, et plus que des autres miracles, une d\u00e9monstration de la part de J\u00e9sus de la raison de Sa pr\u00e9sence dans le monde<\/strong>, une d\u00e9claration d\u2019intention qui devient \u00e9galement un message de la part de Dieu.<\/p>\n

Significatif aussi le fait que J\u00e9sus ne parte pas pour B\u00e9thanie d\u00e8s qu\u2019il re\u00e7oit la nouvelle des conditions de Lazare. Il attend deux jours, en partant seulement le troisi\u00e8me <\/strong>et dans ce choix de la part de l\u2019\u00c9vang\u00e9liste Jean<\/strong><\/a> nous lisons une claire intention proph\u00e9tique\u00a0: le troisi\u00e8me jour sera celui choisi pour le d\u00e9part, comme le troisi\u00e8me jour sera celui o\u00f9 le Christ ressuscitera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

L\u00e8ve-toi et marche<\/h2>\n

J\u00e9sus se rend aupr\u00e8s du tombeau suivi par les disciples\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Lazare, notre ami, dort\u00a0; mais je vais le r\u00e9veiller\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb (Jean 11, 11). Ce n\u2019est pas un simple voyage d\u2019un endroit \u00e0 un autre, c\u2019est un point de non-retour<\/strong> qui est d\u00e9pass\u00e9 par le Sauveur, en pleine conscience de ne plus pouvoir revenir en arri\u00e8re \u00e0 partir de cet instant-l\u00e0. Il a attendu deux jours car la mort de Lazare \u00e9tait fonctionnelle<\/strong> \u00e0 ce qu\u2019Il avait \u00e0 l\u2019esprit d\u2019accomplir, c\u2019\u00e9tait un sacrifice n\u00e9cessaire pour activer la foi des disciples<\/strong>, pour les pousser \u00e0 croire. \u00c0 partir de l\u00e0, l\u2019\u00c9vangile de Jean acc\u00e9l\u00e8re<\/strong>, comme si un m\u00e9canisme irr\u00e9versible avait \u00e9t\u00e9 activ\u00e9, une cha\u00eene d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement<\/strong>s de plus en plus rapproch\u00e9s et fr\u00e9n\u00e9tiques destin\u00e9s \u00e0 culminer avec la Passion et la R\u00e9surrection de J\u00e9sus<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

L\u2019invitation<\/strong> que J\u00e9sus adresse \u00e0 Lazare, \u00ab\u00a0L\u00e8ve-toi et sors<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (Jean 11, 43) \u00e8 l\u2019accomplissement de ce qu\u2019Il a promis \u00e0 Marthe\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0J\u00e9sus lui dit\u00a0: Je suis la r\u00e9surrection et la vie. Celui qui croit en moi vivra, quand m\u00eame il serait mort\u00a0; et quiconque vit et croit en moi ne mourra jamais<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb (Jean 11, 25-26).<\/p>\n

\u00c0 partir de l\u00e0, rien ne pourra plus \u00eatre comme avant.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9surrection de Lazare de Caravaggio<\/h2>\n

La r\u00e9surrection de Lazare a inspir\u00e9 de nombreux artistes au cours des si\u00e8cles. En particulier, Caravaggio<\/strong> r\u00e9alisa en 1609 un magnifique tableau qui repr\u00e9sente cet \u00e9pisode de l\u2019\u00c9vangile de Jean. L\u2019\u0153uvre, conserv\u00e9e dans le Mus\u00e9e R\u00e9gional de Messine, fut commissionn\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019artiste, \u00e0 peine enfui des prisons de Malte, par un marchand g\u00e9nois, Giovanni Battista de\u2019 Lazzari. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un tableau d\u2019un r\u00e9alisme d\u00e9routant<\/strong>, envelopp\u00e9 d\u2019une obscurit\u00e9 sombre<\/strong>, o\u00f9 la figure de Lazare<\/strong><\/a>, investie de la lumi\u00e8re divine<\/strong> \u00e9voqu\u00e9e par Christ, \u00e9merge avec beaut\u00e9 dramatique et intensit\u00e9, les bras ouverts dans un geste qui rappelle la Croix<\/strong>. La l\u00e9gende veut que, afin de faire le portrait du corps de Lazare, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre peintre ait pr\u00e9tendu un v\u00e9ritable cadavre<\/strong> soutenu par des porteurs.<\/p>\n
