La f\u00eate de Sainte Agathe<\/strong> \u00e0 Catane est une des plus grandes manifestations religieuses d\u2019Italie. La Sainte est f\u00eat\u00e9e avec des processions accompagn\u00e9es de v\u00eatements folkloriques et d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments traditionnels. Pensez que lors des journ\u00e9es de la f\u00eate de Sainte Agathe, du 3 au 5 f\u00e9vrier, plus d\u2019un million de personnes<\/strong> entre touristes, citoyens et fid\u00e8les se r\u00e9unissent. M\u00eame si cette ann\u00e9e ce fut diff\u00e9rent, la r\u00e9putation et l\u2019histoire sp\u00e9ciale de cette tradition persistent.<\/p>\n

L\u2019histoire de Sainte Agathe<\/h2>\n

Sainte Agathe<\/strong><\/a> v\u00e9cut au III si\u00e8cle<\/strong> apr\u00e8s Christ, quand le Christianisme \u2013 tout comme les pers\u00e9cutions \u2013 se diffusait \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de l\u2019empire romain. La famille d\u2019Agathe, afin de prot\u00e9ger sa foi, essaya de se r\u00e9fugier \u00e0 Palerme, mais le gouverneur Quintien les convoqua. Quand il vit Agathe, de nouveau \u00e0 Catane, il s\u2019en \u00e9prit.<\/p>\n

Il essaya de lui faire abjurer sa foi, mais la Sainte refusa, restant fid\u00e8le \u00e0 son choix. Quintien essaya de l\u2019en dissuader de diff\u00e9rentes mani\u00e8res\u00a0: voyant que la jeune ne c\u00e9dait pas, il la soumit \u00e0 tortures et supplices atroces, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa mort en martyre<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sa r\u00e9putation se r\u00e9pandit en peu de temps apr\u00e8s sa mort et elle est maintenant v\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e comme Sainte martyre de l\u2019\u00c9glise Catholique<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sainte Agathe patronne<\/h2>\n

Sainte Agathe est patronne de nombreuses villes et lieux d\u2019Italie et du monde. Nous la connaissons en particulier comme sainte patronne de la ville et de l\u2019archidioc\u00e8se de Catane<\/strong>. Elle est connue \u00e9galement comme protectrice des femmes atteintes par des pathologies au sein, des fondeurs de cloche et pompiers.<\/p>\n

La procession de Sainte Agathe<\/h2>\n

\nLa procession annuelle de Sainte Agathe \u00e0 Catane a lieu les 3, 4 et 5 f\u00e9vrier<\/strong>. Le premier jour est d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019offrande des bougies\u00a0: la procession se d\u00e9roule de la fournaise \u00e0 la cath\u00e9drale. C\u2019est le jour d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9colte de la cire<\/strong> : on offre cierges et bougies en demandant la protection de la Sainte.<\/p>\n

L\u2019usage populaire veut que la bougie offerte doit \u00eatre de la m\u00eame taille ou du m\u00eame poids que la personne qui l\u2019offre.<\/p>\n

Le deuxi\u00e8me jour, le cort\u00e8ge se rassemble d\u00e8s le matin et la procession dure toute la journ\u00e9e. Les fid\u00e8les portent le traditionnel \u00ab\u00a0sac\u00a0\u00bb – une tunique blanche \u2013 avec un b\u00e9ret en velours noir, des gants blancs et un mouchoir blanc.<\/p>\n

Le buste de Sainte Agathe<\/strong><\/a> est hiss\u00e9 sur un fercolo<\/strong> (char reliquaire) argent\u00e9<\/strong> et, avec l\u2019\u00e9crin contenant les reliques de la Sainte, est promen\u00e9 dans la partie ext\u00e9rieure de la ville entre les acclamations et les r\u00e9jouissances. Le reliquaire, avec buste, \u00e9crin et bougie, p\u00e8se jusqu\u2019\u00e0 30 quintaux<\/strong>. La Sainte est toujours pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e par les traditionnelles candelore<\/em><\/strong>, des cierges d\u00e9mesur\u00e9s qui repr\u00e9sentent les citoyens.<\/p>\n

Le troisi\u00e8me jour, la procession passe par le centre de Catane et les fid\u00e8les accompagnent la Sainte jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la raccompagner dans la chambre de la cath\u00e9drale d\u2019o\u00f9 elle est partie.<\/p>\n
