Elle est divis\u00e9e par une <strong>ligne verticale travers\u00e9e par trois barres transversales<\/strong>. Ces derni\u00e8res repr\u00e9sentent de mani\u00e8re stylis\u00e9e la crucifixion de J\u00e9sus\u00a0: la barre la plus haute est la plaque avec l\u2019inscription \u00ab\u00a0J\u00e9sus Christ Roi des Juifs\u00a0\u00bb (INBI en grec et INRI en latin), que Ponce Pilate fit clouer sur la croix pour se moquer du Salvateur\u00a0; la barre inf\u00e9rieure, diagonale dans l\u2019iconographie russe et droite dans celle grecque, repr\u00e9sente le repose-pieds. L\u2019inclinaison de la barre inf\u00e9rieure poss\u00e8de une signification symbolique, puisque elle repr\u00e9sente l\u2019ascension du Christ aux cieux et, en m\u00eame temps, le concept selon lequel \u00ab\u00a0La Croix est Balance de Justice\u00a0\u00bb. En r\u00e9alit\u00e9 la croix orthodoxe cache d\u2019innombrables symboles et signes, non seulement dans sa forme particuli\u00e8re, mais souvent aussi dans les d\u00e9corations qui l\u2019enrichissent.<\/p>\n<p>Dans la repr\u00e9sentation de la <strong>figure de J\u00e9sus<\/strong>, par exemple, rien n\u2019est laiss\u00e9 au hasard\u00a0: il ne porte pas de couronne d\u2019\u00e9pines et il est fix\u00e9 sur la Croix avec quatre clous et pas trois\u00a0; sa t\u00eate est inclin\u00e9e vers la droite\u00a0; derri\u00e8re lui, reprenant les lignes de son corps, la lance avec laquelle Longinus (en fran\u00e7ais Longin) lui per\u00e7a le c\u00f4t\u00e9 et l\u2019\u00e9ponge imbib\u00e9e de vinaigre avec laquelle on lui donna \u00e0 boire. En arri\u00e8re-plan, se dessine la ville de J\u00e9rusalem, th\u00e9\u00e2tre de la Passion. La croix de J\u00e9sus pose sur des rochers en-dessous desquelles s\u2019ouvre une caverne o\u00f9 est visible le cr\u00e2ne d\u2019Adam. De cette mani\u00e8re on met en relation l\u2019anc\u00eatre de tous les hommes, qui a perdu la gr\u00e2ce et l\u2019amour de Dieu \u00e0 cause de son p\u00each\u00e9, et J\u00e9sus, incarnation de la nouvelle Alliance et du pardon du P\u00e8re. Sur les c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la barre qui soutient les bras de J\u00e9sus, il y a le <strong>soleil<\/strong> et la <strong>lune<\/strong>, et les <strong>anges<\/strong> en plus de nombreuses inscriptions renvoyant \u00e0 proph\u00e9ties et pri\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>Cette repr\u00e9sentation de la mort de J\u00e9sus est d\u00e9pourvue des connotations de sang et d\u2019agonie, exprimant plut\u00f4t <strong>sacralit\u00e9<\/strong>, <strong>noblesse<\/strong> et une sorte de <strong>beaut\u00e9<\/strong> <strong>solennelle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La croix orthodoxe est une version particuli\u00e8re de la croix caract\u00e9ris\u00e9e par certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments symboliques la rendant unique en son genre.
