Saint Jean Baptiste est une des personnalit\u00e9s les plus importantes de la religion chr\u00e9tienne catholique, mais aussi en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de toutes les \u00c9glises chr\u00e9tiennes et de l\u2019Islam, qui le consid\u00e8re comme un des proph\u00e8tes les plus \u00e9minents avant Mahomet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dieu lui-m\u00eame affirma que personne nait d\u2019une femme n\u2019\u00e9tait plus grand que Jean le Baptiste.<\/p>\n

Les statues qui repr\u00e9sentent Saint Jean Baptiste<\/a><\/strong><\/span> le voient souvent comme un enfant, symbolisant sa vocation tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9coce. En effet, les catholiques le v\u00e9n\u00e8rent comme le Pr\u00e9curseur du Christ, celui qui fut d\u00e9sign\u00e9, d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans le ventre maternel, pour pr\u00e9parer l\u2019arriv\u00e9e du Sauveur.<\/p>\n

Quand la Vierge alla rendre visite \u00e0 Elisabeth, m\u00e8re de Jean le Baptiste, l\u2019enfant exulta dans son ventre, conscient de l\u2019imminente arriv\u00e9e de J\u00e9sus. Sa naissance fut annonc\u00e9 par l\u2019archange Gabriel<\/strong> qui donna la nouvelle \u00e0 Marie et fut proph\u00e9tique pour l\u2019avent du Christ, ainsi que toute sa vie. Dans les statues Saint Jean Baptiste<\/strong> tient souvent dans ses bras un agneau, symbole de son r\u00f4le de pasteur d\u2019\u00e2mes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Patron des moines<\/strong>, il fut un asc\u00e8te, un ermite et le fondateur d\u2019une communaut\u00e9 qui pour de multiples aspects annonce celle cr\u00e9\u00e9e par la suite par J\u00e9sus de Nazareth<\/strong>. Sa pr\u00e9dication se concentrait sur le changement imminent d\u00fb \u00e0 l\u2019avent de J\u00e9sus, indiqu\u00e9 par Jean le Baptiste comme \u00ab\u00a0plus fort\u00a0\u00bb, porteur de salut.<\/p>\n

Jean le Baptiste pratiquait le bapt\u00eame comme un acte de p\u00e9nitence avec l\u2019immersion dans le fleuve Jourdain. Le bapt\u00eame de Jean le Baptiste<\/strong> n\u2019\u00e9tait pas une simple ablution rituelle, comme les h\u00e9breux en pratiquaient d\u00e9j\u00e0, mais un acte de \u00ab\u00a0conversion\u00a0\u00bb conscient et authentique et un choix spirituel.
