It derives from the Spanish <em>word<\/em> escaprate, which means <em>showcase<\/em>, and perhaps also from the dialectal term <em>carabattolo<\/em>, <em>jar<\/em>. Certainly, the Spanish definition is more appropriate, considering that the <strong>scarabattola<\/strong>, or doodle, is a <strong>display<\/strong> case, a display case used to contain a sacred image, an artistic composition depicting a scene from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.holyart.com\/religious-items\/sacred-books\"><strong>Holy Scriptures<\/strong><\/a>, an episode from the life of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.holyart.com\/items\/virgin-mary-statues.php\"><strong>Our Lady<\/strong><\/a>, Jesus, or a Saint.
