We then think of the many brotherhoods of monks,<\/strong> the merit they had in the preservation and dissemination of culture, also contributing extraordinary inventions to lay the foundations for modern technological development.<\/p>\n

St. Francis of Assisi’s<\/strong> Canticle of the Creatures<\/a>, one of the oldest texts in Italian literature, is also considered a splendid love poem, as well as an immortal prayer. As for St. Augustine<\/strong>, his Confessions can be considered a true author’s novel, because of the richness of language, the skillfully used rhetorical figures, as well as the grace in the narration and the profound knowledge of the Holy Scriptures.<\/p>\n
